In partnership with Cella Solutions, The BOSS Group has an exciting opportunity for a temporary hire (ongoing assignment), Technical Writer at an award-winning, best-in-class in-house studio at a major oil and gas Fortune 50 company currently located in Houston, TX (downtown). This full-service studio produces print, content, digital, interactive, training and video deliverables. The creative studio supports projects across all internal departments both domestically and globally. The Technical Writer position is a unique opportunity to work among your peers, as well as the client in one collaborative environment.   Including over seventy-five creative professionals across all disciplines and two key locations, this unique partnership has proved to be more successful than similar in-house and external agency competitors - overall and with respect to innovation, execution, and client support.

Technical Writer Responsibilities:
  • Write a variety of technical articles, reports, proposals, brochures and/or manuals for documentation in a wide range of uses
  • Responsible for advanced and complex formatting of documents in Microsoft Word
  • Ensure that all applicable style guides are followed
  • Perform editorial functions on an as-needed basis
  • Research subject matter and investigate topics
  • Work with high-level executives on internal and externally-facing deliverables
  • Perform QC to ensure all material follows brand and company guidelines

Technical Writer Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication/Writing or related field
  • 5+ years experience as Technical Writer (with experience in copyediting, proofreading and writing content)
  • 2+ years experience as a Technical Writer in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Expert in Word & Excel)
  • Comfortable working in a Windows PC environment
  • Must have a strong portfolio of work including: technical oil field type documents, internal reports, technical posters, flyers, and newsletters
  • A strong communicator and have proven writing skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • A team player and collaborator
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
  • Someone that desires to try and adopt new learning mediums, always keeping up with best practices
  • Someone with excellent analytical, creative problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
