Social Media Specialist

Are you a talented Social Media Specialist? You may be perfect for this position. We are searching for a Social Media Specialist for a direct hire/full-time position currently located in Baltimore, MD. The Social Media Specialist will work collaboratively with the Marketing, Communications and Public Relations team to create, monitor and support social media campaigns and programs. The Social Media Specialist will drive community engagement by updating, maintain, creating, and expanding existing social media content.

Social Media Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Understand social media platforms/channels and identify emerging opportunities
  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification that’s in keeping with, and support of, our client's overall communications objectives
  • Work with the Public Relations Manager and other external relations teams, to plan, curate, create, edit, revise, publish and share daily content to include original text, images, video, HTML, etc. that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action and engage with the Institute
  • Create, optimize and maintain Institute pages within various social media platforms to increase the visibility and perception of the Institute daily and/or as required
  • Monitor, moderate and respond appropriately to user-generated content
  • Create editorial calendars and provide Institute event content to various online calendars
Social Media Specialist Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience guiding social media campaigns - both paid and organic - and programs to include relevant experience across key social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, blogs, etc. Experience using social media to drive non-profit and philanthropy/giving strategies preferred
  • Experience working in academic, healthcare, non-profit or research organizations, or with individuals with disabilities, is preferred
  • Experience working with the news media is preferred
