Publishing Associate

Your NEW opportunity is here! We are looking for an exceptional Publishing Associate for a temporary hire (long-term) opportunity currently located in Washington, DC.  For this position, the Publishing Associate is responsible for coordinating with the Publishing Officer, Authors, Editors, Typesetters, Proofreaders, and Publishing Office Print Coordinators to ensure that books produced in their publishing stream meet quality requirements, adhere to workflow procedures, stay within budget, and are completed in a timely fashion. 

Publishing Associate Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the production process under the oversight of the Publishing Officer
  • Communicating effectively with authors to ensure that they understand the publishing process, that their questions or concerns are addressed at any stage of production, and that they receive excellent customer service
  • Carrying out quality control reviews and specified intervals during the publishing process
  • Properly tracking and organizing versions of files over the course of the production process
  • Using the customized management and billing tools
  • Transmitting print-ready files to the Print Coordinators
  • Other duties, as assigned

Publishing Associate Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • One to two years of relevant experience working in the publishing industry is preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.?
  • Working knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style standards
  • Editorial background
