Awesome opportunity! Take a peek at this Production Designer currently located in Gaithersburg, MD. For this temporary hire (ongoing contract) position, the Production Designer will be the support to the graphic design team and is responsible for supporting the graphic design staff in the creation of proposals and sales related projects. The Production Designer is a technical expert in flowing text, working with styles, master pages and templates; and is proficient at developing graphics, sourcing and placing imagery. The Production Designer will prepare technically accurate final design files for print and digital delivery maintaining high quality standards despite pressing deadlines; always striving to do work right the first time.

Production Designer Responsibilities:
  • Implements design solutions as directed or repurposes existing templates, designs and artwork for new uses
  • Revises and updates existing design deliverables
  • Prepares production-ready files to appropriate production specifications
  • Responsible for pre-flighting all production files assigned to ensure quality
  • Responsible for quality control to ensure all files contain all correct elements needed for production of final deliverables
  • Checks files to ensure that all settings are correct including color, image resolution and output settings
  • Corrects all inconsistencies and mistakes in the file before its release; including typesetting revisions, page breaks, scaling artwork, photo retouching, correcting vector artwork, color corrections/adjustments and page sequence/imposition revisions
  • Takes direction from Art Director and Sr. Graphic Designers on various projects with competing deadlines
  • Works with print production team to troubleshoot and problem solve production issues on files
  • Confers with project manager to ensure all files are correct and final before archiving
  • Provides guidance based on project needs/complexity to meet production specifications and standards
  • Reviews project briefs generated by sales through the intake process for overall quality and accuracy. Reviews creative briefs for Tier 1 and other complex projects
Production Designer Requirements:
  • Demonstrates expert level of proficiency utilizing styles and master pages
  • Displays expert level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, specifically: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat
  • Sound understanding of MS Office
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Displays a commitment to quality control, specifically measured by consistently producing accurate artwork in a timely manner; interpreting and implementing client changes during proof cycles
  • Experience working across Mac and Windows platforms
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple quick turn projects
  • Effectively and professionally interact with others 
  • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills
  • Proactively anticipates needs, problems, opportunities with a flexible problem-solving approach
  • Process-oriented with an uncanny ability to get things done
  • Associate's degree or higher required in graphic design, advertising or related field
  • Minimum of two years professional experience required in creative/graphic/production design
  • Strong portfolio required showcasing technically sound design skills and clean design aesthetics
  • Expert level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat; Adobe Certification a plus
