We are currently partnering up with a local Atlanta organization in their search for a skilled and passionate Design Manager for a direct hire/ full time position. This person should have a finger on the pulse of the Jewish community, and be extremely well versed in print, newspaper, and/or magazine layout work. The Design Manager is a new opportunity on the team that will allow for someone to take on a crucial role at a long lasting community newspaper, while making a strong impact on the organization and their brand moving forward. A successful Design Manager will take on tasks that include laying out the newspaper’s format, creating and formatting advertisements for clients, coming up with marketing strategies to improve online presence, and improving their social media landscape. This is a fantastic hybrid role located in Atlanta is a great match for someone that is ready to take charge and thrive in a great, communal environment!

Design Manager Responsibilities:
  • Design and finalize the format and layout of weekly newspaper, typically ranging from 40-50 pages
  • Assist in the design of client advertisements 
  • Develop and execute modern and engaging marketing plans to help promote the company name and their product 
  • Conceive and execute engaging social strategies to increase following, outreach, and brand recognition
  • Bridge the gap between business, marketing and editorial by collaborating closely with team leaders and various departments 
  • Manage editorial timelines for publishing, while collaborating with editors and publishers on creative direction and approval during pre-press for each publication 
  • Create compelling illustrations, videos, and/or infographics for social media, website, newsletters, and other outreach materials
  • Ownership of the design and visual identity of the newspaper 

Design Manager Requirements:
  • 3-5 years professional experience in layout design 
  • Proven talent in graphic arts and media 
  • Proficient with websites, social media platforms, and proven knowledge of social media best practices
  • Experience working within an editorial/design department highly preferred 
  • Passion and or understanding of the Jewish community would be advantageous 
  • Exceptional communication skills, including ability to communicate design concepts, negotiate internally and externally, and advise and promote design policy
