Ready for a new job? We are looking for a talented Executive Communications Manager for a temp to hire position in Silver Spring, MD. The Executive Communications Manager develops and implements communications strategies and tactics on a wide range of advocacy and other issues to advance thought leadership for key leaders of the association including the President, Board Members, CEO and other executives. As a critical role contributor, the Executive Communications Manager develops narrative and positively positions leaders by producing impactful and timely content in speeches, talking points, and PowerPoint presentations before a wide range of audiences. Other responsibilities include executing strategies to gain additional visibility and extend the reach of leaders’ voices. 

Executive Communications Manager Responsibilities:
  • Develops original content, researches and writes speeches, talking points, video scripts and creates PowerPoint presentations for the President, CEO or other executives for a variety of occasions; some that require particular sensitivity
  • Collaborates with appropriate association policy, program, executive and staff on the concepts and tone to be conveyed in materials
  • Determines and makes recommendations on the overall organization of the presentations and edits the information for clarity and accuracy. Oversees the review and approval process, including edits from the President or CEO
  • Develops and implements new tactics and channels, such as video to improve efficiency, reach and relevancy
  • Develops and executes strategies to extend the reach of and gain additional visibility for leaders, by managing Twitter accounts and other channels. This includes active monitoring and development of engaging and timely social media content, and leading and coordinating all member emails and other timely communications and other public policy issues
  • Develops, monitors, and improves processes including: overall calendar, online forms, works with the Executive Office, responsible for tracking all speaking engagements, and coordinating other important details key to the production of speeches
  • Develops detailed schedules for producing drafts and final materials, ensuring that there is sufficient review time and coordinating with Executive Office to accommodate presenter’s needs

Executive Communications Manager Requirements:
  • Baccalaureate in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations required. Master’s degree 
  • In related field preferred. Coursework and/or post-graduate degree in Journalism, Services, and/or Public Health required
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of related writing experience, preferably in health care.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and analytical skills through presentation of persuasive, accurate content
  • Able to write quickly in a fast-paced environment, often under intense deadline pressure; strong project and people management skills 
  • Must be able to relate easily to diverse individuals and groups, especially at the C-suite level
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, assignments, and deadlines
  • Excellent listener with ability to act independently and exercise good judgment/decision-making. Possess excellent organizational skills
  • Possess excellent PowerPoint skills
