Director of Strategic Communications

We are excited to be supporting an association in Oak Brook, IL (Chicagoland suburbs) who is looking for a Director of Strategic Communications to join their team. This is a highly visible role within the organization, and a great opportunity to report directly to a CMO and have an immediate impact on corporate-wide initiatives in internal and external communications, PR, and media relations. The association is the hub for all marketing, communications, PR and brand initiatives that support a national, well known brand. Our ideal candidate will be an established communications and PR professional with a strategic mindset and the ability to bring new concepts and campaign ideas to the table in order to elevate the company brand.

Director of Strategic Communications Responsibilities: 

  • Play a lead role with strategic communciations, PR strategy and media relations, brand reputation, internal and external communcations, as well as member company services 
  • Direct internal and external strategic communications programs and external PR strategy for a national brand
  • Elevate the company brand voice and its reputation at the national level with both B2B and B2C audiences
  • Partner with marketing and government relations teams to seek new ways to elevate the company profile in the market nationally, in traditional and social media channels
  • Provide internal communications support by developing communications programs and tools for company employees
  • Develop media relationships with top national media outlets, as well as with key thought leaders in the industry

Director of Strategic Communications Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or marketing, MBA or masters degree preferred
  • 15+ years of professional experience driving strategic communications and PR strategies, social media and brand optimization
  • Experience delivering measurable results to both B2B and B2C audiences nationwide
  • Political experience as it relates to commucniations and media is required - Director will engage with professionals on Capitol Hill
  • Experience developing effective strategies with policy makers is required - Experience with public policy, government, legislative initiatives 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a team oriented environment 
  • Proven experience in the health insurance industry is a perk
