Monster and The BOSS Group Unveil Research Highlighting Recruitment Activity for Marketing, Creative and Web Occupations

MAYNARD, Mass. and BETHESDA, Md. – November 20, 2007 – Monster®, the leading global online careers and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNST), and The BOSS Group, a leading niche provider of on-demand creative, marketing, and web professionals, today announce the availability of research reports detailing job seeker and recruitment activity within the marketing, creative and web-focused occupational category.

The two free reports, “Marketing & Creative Professionals: Recruiter Activity & Best Practices” and “Marketing & Creative Professionals: Job Seeker Activity” draw from surveys of human resource professionals, hiring managers and job seekers, as well as Monster’s own proprietary data

Highlights of both reports include the following:

• Demand for skilled marketing talent decreased in 2008, dropping 22% over the prior year, but was still at mid-2006 levels. We anticipate that this trend will continue, but will dramatically vary by position and candidate availability.

•  Surprisingly, the supply of new marketing talent actually decreased by nearly 18% over the previous year. It appears that the decline in the economy has not resulted in an across-the-board increase in new job seekers.

•  Few creative or marketing roles experienced increases in demand over 2007; however, roles such as Marketing Manager and Marketing Director experienced less severe drops in demand.

•  Managerial and executive talent continue to be in high demand within the Marketing sector, including Creative Directors, Product Managers, and other must-have personnel. Contrary to expectations for a down economy, landing qualified managers as well as technical experts does not necessarily get easier for recruiters.

•  Nearly two-thirds (64%) of recruiting professionals in a recent Monster survey indicated that at least half of their marketing-oriented openings are difficult to fill. Web Developers and Designers were found to be particularly challenging to fill.

•  The need for creative talent continues to be high in the San Francisco Bay Area and Houston markets. However, demand dropped in most hotbeds of marketing talent, including Chicago and Washington, DC.

“Our research reveals that there is tightening demand for marketing, creative and web professionals across the nation,” said Jeff Quinn, director of research, Monster.  “Given this war for talent, employers seeking to recruit and retain qualified candidates need to be more attuned to shifts in job seeker attitudes and behaviors.”

Jenna Stone, Director of Marketing and Communications for The BOSS Group, commented, “These reports are unique in that they focus solely on the marketing and creative fields and provide a glimpse into what’s really happening in the creative recruitment market right now. The findings mirror what we’re seeing in our day-to-day operations: a stubbornly tight labor market for key positions despite a more cautious hiring climate than last year.”
