The creative industry has seen great growth in the past year, with more businesses turning toward the internet for advertising, communication and sales. Other hot spots that have attracted recent graduates interested in marketing communication, product marketing and social media jobs are cities, such as Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Seattle, San Jose, Dallas and Philadelphia.

According to the source, the city with the greatest availability for open creative positions is Atlanta, which saw a 191 percent increase since August 2010. The extreme growth could have something to do with the high demand of creative marketing campaigns online. Print and broadcast advertising has been utilized for years as one of the few outlets that allowed businesses to actively engage and promote their services directly to consumers. With the emergence of the internet, advertising as a whole has expanded and evolved to new levels of innovation. In the city of Atlanta, jobs that require some creative skills are said to have about 7 candidates per opening, reports Wanted Analytics Hiring Scale.

In contrast to Atlanta, Washington D.C. is said to have seen the smallest growth in the creative industry in the past year. That is to say, it has experienced a larger surge than previously unmentioned metropolitan areas, but among the big players, it is far behind. It is suggested that the reasoning for this occurrence is that many of the students flocking to the area are interested in industries that do not have a need for innovative or creative work in their advertising and marketing campaigns.

Businesses have a responsibility to their clientele to keep up-to-date with the world around them. Failing to initiate a proactive creative marketing campaign has the potential to be detrimental to a business' public image, as well as limit growth within a niche market.
