Technology affects almost everything we do. An innovative discovery in one industry could completely alter how we interact in another. The unveiling of HTML5, for example, will impact several creative fields, and force existing web developers to scramble to keep up with the latest trends. The new syntax allows web developers to improve their design capabilities in ways previously thought impossible. Some of the advantages include improved video integration and the advancement of mobile browser. Both additions will impact how we interact in 2012.

Web developer jobs are on the rise. Candidates with an interest in designing engaging mobile applications will see the biggest rise in employment opportunities. The introduction of smartphones into the consumer market made a large impact, however, only recently have more consumers obtained a smartphone than not.

In 2012, the market for mobile applications will increase from $6 billion (2011) to $17 billion, reports an independent study commissioned by GetJar. In addition, the study reports that downloads of mobile applications will jump to 50 billion in 2012, a huge increase from 2009's 7 billion downloads. The increase in mobile activity has spawned new job opportunities in various creative industries, such as graphic design, web development and, to a lesser extent, content writing.

Individuals are able to find new career paths due to the rise in application development. Many businesses, whether interactive or not, are looking to improve connectivity by incorporating an application into a marketing campaign. Take this opportunity to scroll through the app market on the nearest smartphone, and it is obvious that many have already found these apps useful for trivial purposes. However, consumers continue to download them, taking up space on the devices and, in effect, losing all sense of instinctual direction.

The rise in mobile application development will be seen across the board, on the leading mobile app markets and in how we interact with one another. This statistic can be best proven by the projected rise of application price for 2012. According to GetJar, due to an increasing competitive market, the average price of mobile applications will drop from $2.00 to $1.50 in 2012.

Anyone who has a smartphone realizes how important these applications are to their function. They have a wide range of capabilities and, when used properly, they can improve how we interact with the world around us. The industry will skyrocket, and those who have yet to purchase a smartphone device will finally be convinced that owning one is a necessity.
