Happy employees means high productivity

The internet is a scary terrain to try and navigate. The algorithms that dictate the ranking of websites on search engines change so regularly, that hardly anyone can claim that jobs in social media marketing are easy to fill. Businesses struggle to remain relevant and after the initial start-up phase has surpassed, it is tough to figure out where to go from there. A lot of hype has been built around the importance of a corporate online presence, and truthfully, it can be the sole driver for new business. How nice would it be to know that all your hard work was actually paying off? The best way to measure success is by actually engaging with consumers. Otherwise, all online marketing is doing is sending out information into a big black hole.

Assuming that a business has started with the basics - such as online media, search engine optimization and email marketing - where does a manager go from there? It is important to use those media outlets, but there correct ways of using them as well as incorrect ways. Most importantly, businesses who do not actively engage with consumers online might as well close down their social media and blogs. Those platforms are meant to provide transparency for a business, which gives the public the opportunity to understand what an organization is all about. After all, if consumers can create an impression of a company in their own head, they may choose to advertise it to their friends. Believe it or not, word-of-mouth advertising can even be more effective than online marketing.

Creating a brand image for a company is hard, too. Every employed individual needs to wholeheartedly believe in the cause. Without a staff that lives and breaths the business, nothing can be accomplished. The goal is to develop such a dedicated staff that even they are promoting the service outside of the office. A great way to get your staff involved in promotion is by allowing them to create their own posts on the company blog. Carefully setting up a governing policy can guide new users on the proper way to craft valuable content for the public eye.

Online advertising is effective, but only when appropriately used. There's a lot to be said about the morale of a company's staff. If they believe in what the business stands for, then it can be assumed that they'll promote the service on their own time. Instead of spending so much effort online competing for popular keywords, it could be a better strategy to establish common ground with those who work so diligently behind closed doors.
