Facebook holds top share of online U.S. ad impressions

2012-02-14

Professionals have many obstacles that they must approach with grace and overcome in order to progress in their fields. Networking has been an invaluable tool for people who want to gain insight into how to leverage their talents and gain high employment opportunities. In many industries, workers need to market themselves online in order to attract potential employers. This trend has played a part in the growth of social media, as people look to platforms like Facebook as a way to get noticed.

According to a Pew Internet Research report, one in ten employed adults say they need to market themselves or make information about themselves available online as part of their occupation and goals.

With more people using social media for employment, businesses have bigger opportunities to generate organic impressions online. Businesses may create jobs in social media marketing to help implement enticing promotional campaigns to appeal to social media users. In fact, according to recently released data from comScore, Facebook's share of U.S. ad impressions grew to 27.9 percent during 2011 - up from 21 percent in 2010, reports ClickZ news. The research shows that more brands are turning to social media and online marketing in order to grow their businesses.

However, brands receive more benefits by advertising on Facebook besides new impressions. The information that can be compiled simply by reviewing click through rates (CTR) is an invaluable component for future online and offline marketing. While businesses may see value in creating social media positions, they may want to consider making room in their budgets for market research jobs, too. These professionals work closely with social media marketers to analyze data that is received through Facebook marketing. For example, brands are able to record key characteristics of the people who click on their promotions while surfing Facebook. This allows market researchers a chance to understand who is interested in their products or services. A more concise outlook on their target audience can help adjust marketing as a whole, as it gives brands a look into the minds of their customers.

Online marketing is easy to implement for businesses of any size. With more consumers using social media for pleasure and professional purposes, brands may want to take advantage of the growing trend and look for ways to leverage online interactions for monetary gains.
