New jobs in December 2011 exceeds economist projections

The job market has faced hard times, but at the end of 2011 there seemed to be a comforting uptick in job creation across the board in the United States.

In the month of December the U.S. added approximately 200,000 new jobs, according to the Labor Department. The amount of new jobs was far more than projected, as economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had suggested a total gain of only 155,000 by year's end.

What's more, the unemployment rate declined for the third straight month in December - falling .1 percent to end the year at 8.5 percent. The United States unemployment rate has not declined for more than two months in a row since before 2008. The surprising statistics provide hope for those looking for work and employers who want to expand in 2012.

The trend helped to restore some of the stability that was lost in early 2011, when the global economy suffered tremendously. Events, such as the earthquake in Japan and the debt ceiling debate, slowed recovery across the world.

Of course, certain industries have a higher likelihood of gaining steam in the upcoming year. Creative experts project that online marketing will influence how many businesses approach professional growth in 2012. Campaign tactics such as content marketing, SEO marketing, social media marketing and a more interactive web development process will all be vital for success.

Organizations that want to be on the cutting edge of their respective fields will look to hire individuals to fill in-demand positions. Job seekers can expect an influx of new jobs available in web development jobs, social media marketing jobs, brand management jobs and graphic design. jobs.

When it comes to finding the most profitable employment opportunity, job seekers need to weigh their talents with the possibility of growth at any prospective company. After such a slow job market, it is easy for an individual to want to accept the first position that is offered. However, it may be wise to seek an organization that has an appealing corporate culture, allows for creative individuality and offers the opportunity for growth. Job seekers who find themselves employed at businesses that have a firm grasp on their goals often find more avenues of their own to explore professionally.

While the latest job creation numbers provide much-needed hope to Americans, the future of the economy has yet to be seen by everyone. In 2012, no matter the industry, job seekers must actively pursue open positions, as survival of the fittest still applies in today's competitive world.
